The Furka Cogwheel Steam Railway (Dampfbahn Furka-Bergstrecke, DFB in German) is a company which operates a railway line between Realp and Oberwald. It is an old section of the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn that was abandoned after the construction of the Furka Tunnel and then gradually brought back into service by the Verein Furka-Bergstrecke in early 2000 with the use of only steam locomotives.

Reconstruction of 2 HG 4/4 D-steam locomotives

The organisation will reconstruct 2 HG 4/4 "D"-steamlokomotives. The organisation needs about swiss Fr. 1'700'000.-- or 1'200'000 Euro or 1'200'000.-- dollars for additional works with special firms. The test run will be in the year 2013. The costs of a new firebox is about swiss Fr. 110'000.-- or 80'000.-- Euxro.

The separate foundation Furka - Bergstrecke (Furka mountain line) collects the money for the reconstruction of the 2 locomotives and for the depot Realp for the steamlocomotives. The foundation provides for equipment and construction investments on the line.
